Log off on time, or the Wall finds out.

CaughtShipping watches your work apps after cutoff. Leave one open and the Blotter hears about it.

Free. Windows and macOS. It never blocks anything.

How it works

One night, three steps. Here's a 9 PM cutoff, and the moment someone kept Cursor open one commit too long.

Cutoff, 9 PM
Fall, 10:10 PM
Clean night
1

Pick your curfew

Choose when your workday really ends. Curfew starts between 8 and 10 PM, ends by 6 AM, and lasts at least seven hours.

2

The app watches your work apps

It watches a curated list of work apps. If one is open in front of you after cutoff, you get a short grace period (5 minutes by default) to close it. It never blocks anything.

3

Break it and the wall knows

Miss the grace period and that's a fall: it goes on the public Blotter and your streak resets. Make it to morning and that's a clean night.

Real emergency? Two overrides a month cancel a countdown without a fall, and four "pause tonight" days cover the nights you already know about. Read the full rules →

It counts minutes, not what you did in them.

This is the receipt for your rest, not a productivity audit. A locked screen or a sleeping machine never counts as activity.

What leaves your computer

  • Free Only your falls: which app, when, and how long past cutoff.
  • Rested Hourly totals: which app, how long, per hour, plus your time zone. Nothing finer.

What it never collects

  • Never Window titles or tab titles.
  • Never File names or URLs.
  • Never Keystrokes or screenshots.
  • Never A live stream of what you're doing.

Questions, answered plainly.

No. It never force-quits apps, locks your screen, or takes over input. Escalation is a tray pulse, a notification, then the popover — and finally, if you let it run out, a fall.
Only whether a watched app was in the foreground after your cutoff, once your 5-minute grace runs out. Not what you typed, not which file, not which URL.
Two overrides a month cancel the countdown without a fall. Four pause days a month skip monitoring entirely, for the nights you already know about.
All-day per-app tracking, the reports dashboard, a weekly Rest Report Card, a README badge, and one automatic pardon a month.
Both. macOS is further along; Windows follows the same rules and the same wall.
