The audit
RescueTime
RescueTime is the audit. It watches everything you touch, grades the day, and shows you a productivity pulse. It is thorough and has been for fifteen years. It also captures window titles to do it.
CaughtShipping sees one thing: a watched app in the foreground after cutoff. It can’t tell you how productive Tuesday was. It can tell you Tuesday ended at 11:41 PM in Cursor, and so can everyone else.
The closest cousin
Beeminder
Beeminder is the closest cousin. Miss a goal, pay a pledge, and the pledge grows. It works because losing money hurts.
CaughtShipping swapped money for witnesses. A fall costs $0 and your streak, posted on the Blotter with your handle on it. One pays Beeminder. The other owes the Wall an explanation.
The locked door
Cold Turkey and Freedom
Blockers lock the door. Schedule a block and the editor won’t open until morning. For some people that is exactly right, and we mean that.
CaughtShipping has never force-quit anything. It doesn’t block. It watches, counts to five, and then tells. Adults who want to keep coding can. They just can’t pretend they didn’t.
Already installed
Screen Time and Focus
Already on your machine, already free, already ignored. App limits end with a button that says “Ignore Limit for Today,” and everyone presses it.
Downtime is private, which is the problem. A limit nobody can see is a suggestion.
Fair is fair
When you should pick them instead.
